Yeap. Just normal a4. And thanks =) And yeah, it took for a while before I understood the idea, but then it's pretty easy.

It tends to look better when you make it a small dot size, around 2-3 is good.

first of all...how much ink do you need to do something like that?

but also...how do you manage keeping your desk at job so neat?

Well it did use up a lot of ink. I believe it was 12 pages, but it came out beautifully! And when you work in telemarketing you either stare at the wall or do something else, that's why my desk was always neat
