interpol's venue at the werchter festival has been confirmed last night. They are going to come the 02/07/2005 the same day as rammstein, the Mars Volta, Bloc Party, millionaire,... They won't play on the main stage so i hope there would be enough space :D

I'm there!
MV and Interpol the same night, I guess there is a mastermind behind the festival then... :)

SWEET JESUS, I just found out myself. This summer I am moving from Belgium, and have never been to Rock Werchter before, but for this last year I HAVE TO MAKE IT. You forgot that Interpol is also playing the same day as NINE INCH NAILS. I think I just reached nirvana.

How old are you?
I've been there 4 times, and it only gets worse each year... Diversity is not an issue but when you keep bringing in Sean Paul, the Black Eyed Peas and for fuck's sake PINK, you know there is a problem in the festival...
I'm actually asking myself how the 15 years old will react to the MV who will probably play non stop during the 40 first minutes. They will probably scream 'the widoooooooow' during the whole set :(

Anyway, go to pukkelpop for REAL diversity and go to dour for the vibes!

still going on july 2 though...

I'm going to Werchter for the 11th year in a row now, I did a lot of other festivals and still think that Werchter is one of the greatest festivals on the planet. Big names in all kind of genres, superb atmosphere (the 10 times I went, I had a mindblowing weekend). I don't think there's something wrong to put BEP, Pink and Sean Paul on a program as last year, there still was quality enough.

But, you have a point that it was way better in the past.

Line up so far:

Quote

Donderdag 30 juni
Main Stage: New Order, Ozark Henry, Snoop Dogg, Chemical Brothers
Marquee: Saul Williams, Thievery Corporation, Kraftwerk

Vrijdag 1 juli
Main Stage: Athlete, Within Temptation, Garbage, Green Day, Faithless
Marquee: Monza, Jamie Cullum, Elvis Costello & The Imposters, Armand van Helden

Zaterdag 2 juli
Main Stage: Pennywise, Daan, The Tears, Audioslave, Nine Inch Nails, Rammstein
Marquee: Bloc Party, Millionaire, The Mars Volta, Interpol

Zondag 3 juli
Main Stage:  Flogging Molly, Feeder, Keane, Soulwax, Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters, R.E.M.
Marquee:  Stash, Kasabian, Sarah Bettens, Tom McRae

Superb names, and still about 30 names to come!

Prices:

Quote

4 day ticket: 120 euro
1 Dayticket donderdag 30 juni:  52 euro
1 Dayticket vrijdag 1 juli:  59 euro
1 Dayticket zaterdag 2 juli:  59 euro

Their webcast is pretty shitty, I've tried to watch new order on thursday, and unless you are not a belgacom skynet customer (which I'm not, fuck'em) you only get crappy streaming of whatever the weakest gig is going on at the time you log on.

This mean that the "least popular" band between intepol and NIN (which are playing at the same time... thanks organisers for fucking my perfect day up with a VERY STUPID decision following MV's annullement) will probably be aired.
I'm actually gonna be there tomorrow, so this streaming thing does not concern me, but I'm kinda pissed anyway... Damn I wanted to see Trent and Twiggy :(

Anyway, comments on the boys' gig on sunday morning :)

Hope pleny of board members will be there!

Haven't been to Werchter in ten years, but this year I'm going, I do not want to miss Interpol! They're bloody awsome live. Maybe I'll run in to some fellow Interpolians, it would be nice cause I'll be there by my lonely self, curse my friends musical taste!
See you guys back on sunday and have a great time at Interpol's gig, I know I will.

I just saw Interpol @ Werchter thanks to the webcast. My my, it felt like i was @ Rockin Park again ^_^ It seemed like Carlos had a problem with his bass, though... You couldn't hear it, he stood in the background where you could hardly see him, and when they played the last song he wasn't even there anymore

SETLIST: Next Exit, Slow Hands, Narc, Say Hello to the Angels, Public Pervert, Not even jail, Leif Erikson, Evil, C'mere, Take you on a cruise, PDA.

To bad they didn't play Obstacle 1...

i also see the show through the webcast even if i live 100 km from the festival... it's too expensive and always sold out!!

but that's not the point!

i was at the concert in "l'atelier" in Luxembourg, on last monday. they exactly did the same set list today but without "encore" (i don't kow how to say : en français: des rappels). i was surprising that there is no "rappels" today because they have to play until 22.15 and they finish before even if the public was shouting... but no... nothing!

I just got back from the werchter festival and still totally hyper, eventhough I get the feeling I'm getting too old for festivals, I'm completely exhausted.
But Interpol was great and yes Paul, we Belgians are a wonderfull audience, maybe it got you thinking on playing some more gigs in Belgium? I can always hope.
I didn't see much of Carlos, I almost thought he went off to see NIN play
you never know... He was somewhere way in the back I guess, in the dark where I couldn't see him, such a shame.
Anyways, I had a great time, thanks largely to Interpol. All my mind is set on now is: I wanna see them again!

That's exactly what I thought... Although some friends and I saw Interpol 4 times in Belgium, we couldn't resist travelling in Europe and seeing them in France, Italy and Luxemburg (+ Ireland for some)!
The atmosphere was so amazing yesterday in Werchter that I also hope to see them again soon in Belgium!

The show was amazing, top performance, Paul wouldn't shut up about how great we were ;)
They got a MASSIVE cheer after evil, must be the single of the year in flanders...

What the hell was going on with carlos? His bass playing was top notch (not ONE bum note, the bass sounded great) but why, why hide behinid his amp rack for almost all the gig? Was his 'not well being' that kept the band not playing the encore that was clearly scheduled?? (roadies re-tuning the guitars and drums just after PDA, lights not going back on right away...)

Really, does anybody have a setlist scan?

An interpol concert without obstacle 1... was quite sad :(

yeah it was a really awesome gig,
I stood in front only a few metres away from the guys and the atmosphere was unbelievable, before interpol started A few english guys were standing behind me and I started talking to them and they said they were the drummer ans basist from Spoon, I didn't know if they were just joking with me or if it was for real but they seemed to know the names of the roadies who did the soundcheck so :D
The show was really greate but what was up with carlos? he hide himself behind paul during whole the show and didn't even faced the audience, but i didn't care because paul and daniel and ofcourse sam were stealing the show,
unfortunetly they didn't played there encore :( here's the setlist:
Setlist:

Next Exit
Slow Hands
NARC
Say Hello to the Angels
Public Pervert
Not Even Jail
Leif Erikson
Evil
C'mere
Take You On A Cruise
P.D.A.
NYC (niet gespeeld)
Obstacle 1 (niet gespeeld)
Roland (niet gespeeld)

it was just unbelievable how everybody was yelling for more, nobody could believe it was already finished , they only performed about 45 min but it were the best 45 min of this year for me :) , so after we knew that the guys wouldn't play the encore , Me and my friends went to see the last 20 min of Nine inch nails and guess what?
We suddenly know why they didn't played their whole set, Sam wanted to see NIN :D

Is that what's written on the goformusic website? (I cant' speak dutch :()
If that's the real reason, well it's just plain stupid and insulting for the audience :@

That was a very good concert. Couldn’t make it but I saw the steam on adsl live. It was the best. Sad they left in a hurry
And the weird thing is I didn't saw Carlos at all. The camera was always on Paul, Daniel and Sam

btw for the performance; I don't think you can find the steam anywhere. If they’re going to show it, it'll probably be on the adsl live 'concert on demand'

But I doubt it all groups come on that. They do have the act of Bloc party.. they were pretty good.
