I think it is kind of sad when an artist is only recognized for the drug or abuse they take. I was introduced to Amy Whinehouse through this forum 2 years ago, but all I learned about her back then is that she has a bad hairdo, freaky make-up and chaotic behavior. I didn't bother much about her, until I saw her performing at Coachella. She was fantastic, and I discovered a very talented person that I missed on, because the focus was so much on her behavior and not so much about what she does. It seems like people love to hate her, why is that? Yeah she's fucked up, but geez, I am glad you guys are not from the 70's generation, you'd have been horrified. So, an artist is supposed to be clean and well behaved in order to even get credit, that's today's trend it seems. I am not glorifying "sex & drugs & rock'n'roll", but come on! this is nothing new in that business.
