From the Interpol Myspace Blog:

We are calling all concert and festival-going photographers, professional and aspiring, to submit their best photographs from Interpol shows past and present, keeping the current festival season especially in mind. The best as selected by Interpol will be displayed on their MySpace page, giving credit to the photographers. Please submit your photographs to interpol.rockyou@gmail.com.

Does this mean we can take pics at shows now and not get roughed up by security?

I think a lot of it has to do with the venue you go to. There are some places that allow cameras only if the band says it's ok, and other places that don't allow them period, which is the case with the venue where I will be seeing Interpol in a few weeks... <_<

Just read a bulletin from Interpol encouraging all photographers to submit thier photos of Interpol live. Past or present. If yours is selected they will put it ontheir page and give you credit!!

How cool is that?

Another ploy to take advantage of the fans. Probably has something to do with the label.

Why is it cynical? If I had a picture of them, I'd feel flattered to see it at their My Space.

Just a way to express your personal experience I think. Let's not dive to deep into this one. It's really just about putting some organic pictures into the complete Interpol perception.

I am going to personally take wicked pics this weekend at their show. What's so bad about wanting to contribute?

it s a bit difficult to take good photographs when most of the venues they're playing do not allow cameras... certainly not professional gear. so, it's somewhat puzzling, this new myspace bulletin. but, hey, if they want to set me up with a photo pass, let me know, and i'll ge the job done.

interpol, my portfolio is available upon request. -_-

Does anybody know how long they are going to be doing this competition? I would really like to submit some photos but unfortunately I won't be able to see them until October.

Some people can't tell the difference between both around here.

My guess is that it'll run through the course of their tour.

I'm with you here Mysterious Traveller, sarcasm is understandable from a Suicide fan.... B)

I'll send my best one anyway, I also have a 'silly fan' side.

Any idea on what is going on with this? Are they allowing cameras now? Have they started choosing pictures yet because I haven't seen any up on the myspace.

As far as I know, they're not.

  This pisses me off! And here's my argument: if someone decided to get a good camera and a good lens, that means that the person will take the time to learn how to use all those little buttons and try to take decent pictures. When cameras are not allowed, all you end up with are photos taken from cell phones that look more like they were taken during an earthquake!

I understand Luhp,

but at le cabaret sauvage, Paris, France , the cameras were surprinsingly allowed...
so I took the opportunity.
