chunklet magazine
Chunklet was started in the early part of the 90's by five disgruntled writers for the weekly arts & entertainment rag The Flagpole (www.flagpole.com) in Athens, Georgia. The first four issues were cranked out in little over a year on the fronts and backs of one piece of paper. Issue 5 was a big breakthrough because that is when Chunklet went to a multi-page format. Issue 9 (the pet issue) was another big step forward because that's when offset printing was first used. Since those modest beginnings, Chunklet has continually gotten bigger (and some would even say better!). Issue 11 was the big issue where Don Caballero contributed two songs for a seven inch that was included and is now fetching big bucks on eBay. There were two issues (issues 12 and 14) that included compilation CDs with bands that generously contributed exclusive material. However, the tedium of assembling these issues proved to be too much and Chunklet is now just a free standing publication that is sporadically published for the common good.
