I’ve been looking for a decent magazine and after searching for a while I found Paste. I haven’t picked one up yet, but was wondering if any one is subscribed to it, and or have any thing to comment about it. Is it worth $5.95? (it includes a CD sample and or DVD).

Paste Website

Amazon Reviews

What is it you're actually looking for when purchashing a magazine?

Music, Movies and Books... all that good stuff. ;)

I get bored if I read like RollingStone or Spin.

Hm... I guess nothing too commercial; nothing mediocre.

Then Paste wouldn't be your cup of tea. Whenever I scan an issue, its writing and content strike me as shallow. All style (indie yuppie), no substance.

No, I don't find that to be true. I think Paste has some substance. Sure, it's a stylish magazine, but they don't just write about whatever's most popular at the moment (*cough* Blender *cough*) or put idiot movie stars on the cover (*cough* Rolling Stone *cough*). I don't have a subscription, but I enjoy it every once in a while. Just my two cents.

If you're looking for great writing I suggest Plan B Magazine. It's much less expository than your regular music journal, a refreshing change indeed.

I enjoy Flaunt magazine. I look forward to see what art and music reviews they have.

Hm… sounds interesting. Plan B is UK based though and I wonder if they even ship it over seas, and if they do how much more would it be. Under Subscribe it only talks about “special subscription requirements” I guess that can fit, if I wanted it to be shipped to the US.

It seams more like a fashion magazine, but they do include music and such. It reminds me of Interview, but Flaunt comes off more graphic. :)

Damn, unlucky. I assumed that since the writers and reports come from both continents that the magazine would be sold in both places as well. Check a specialty shop or record store, perhaps they can help you further. It's well worth the search.
