Bitchy post for the bitchiest of the bass bitches. It's fair.

Anyways, I've always thought he was a classless self-entitled jerk. So there.

DK+PB+SF = all good in my book.

I don't even understand the point of this article. It's 2012 and Carlos isn't doing anything in the music world to be relevant to make this post? I have my thoughts about Carlos too but this is just silly.

I agree. He was my least favourite member. Interpol seem a lot happier now. Paul appears looser on stage and gets into it more. I will say "Happy Birthday!" though.

I've always secretly wished that he'd leave the band.

How the tone regarding Carlos has changed over the years! It stands to reason. He's no longer in the band, so most of his most ardent fans have moved on.

Wonder who he wronged in Palm Beach to earn this.

 I like how the article morphed into promoting Holy Terrors.

Well, I don't mind Carlos. He had good stage performance. Even if his personality wasn't good at times, at least, he was honest. There are musicians worse than he was.

Happy Birthday, Carlos.

Totally! And let's not forget how much comic relief he (often unintentionally) provided!

I enjoyed some of the interviews with Carlos. He doesn't hold his feelings in, does he.

Well, I've always liked Carlos. I was really sad when he left.
I didn't like Pajo, but I'm happy with Brad.

Anyway, happy birthday Carlos.

Meh, Pajo and Brad aren't permanent fits for Interpol. Just like Brandon didn't really fit as well as all the past keyboardists did. They can all play the parts just fine, but they aren't Interpol. They lack the style, the panache, the attitude. Carlos was an integral part of what made Interpol and interesting band not just to listen to. I think that article Paul said about Carlos being an asshole was pretty on-point. He had awesome showmanship (something this band is really lacking without him) and you knew what you were getting with him. People knew he acted dickish, at least he made no point of hiding it.

I'm not saying they should find someone like Carlos again -- either in looks or personality -- but I don't know if the new 3-piece Interpol combo meal really satisfies. They're getting old, sedate, a bit more peaceful. It feels like they are planning things out more, exploring sonically, but it all gets boring eventually for all the positives driving in a "write good music" mode.

I don't think they were ever supposed to be, though perhaps the guys in the band left that a bit ambiguous so fans wouldn't disrespect them or decide it was a reason not to come to shows. I think Pajo and Brad were always friends and good musicians who were helping out for the tour. Just my impression...

Yeah I know that, but as far as fitting an aesthetic or whatever -- Pajo didn't really fit. If Brad cleaned up just a little bit, he wouldn't be half bad. Interpol didn't seem to press the dress code this time, even Farmer Dave/Blasco/Eric had to dress well before.

Eh, Pajo definitely wasn't wearing his usual on stage.

The only reason I even remembered the 23rd is his birthday is because it's mine as well.
So party!

In every performance and photo I've seen he's worn a suit. Pajo came pretty close to that too. Interpol definitely have a dress code (although they deny it). It's either that or the temp players feel it's their chance to be part of that aesthetic so they rise (and dress) to the occasion.

Well, rather than them having an explicit dress code, for whatever reason they do have a certain general look. Even if they didn't ask those guys to dress the part, I'd imagine anyone signing on to fill in for a tour would feel awkward going on stage with Interpol in ripped-up jeans and a random t-shirt. Whereas that kind of look might be unassuming in another band, in Interpol it would stand out. I don't think the guys who were filling in on tour wanted to stand out like that.

Paul obviously didn't get that memo for this past tour.

 He sent the memo. Like in every company rules and dress code only apply to employees. Owners and board of directors can wear anything. ;)

From some of the flickr photos I've seen of Pajo and Truax playing onstage for other bands, they dressed casually, like no blazer, no suit.

Paul dresses more casually when he's doing shows for Julian Plenti. With Interpol, he does dress casually on some occasions, like that adidas track jacket he sometimes wears at some festivals.

flannel, don't forget the flannel, because Paul sure didn't on this past tour (see above)
By my count he only wore a full suit maybe 3-4 times, out of nearly 200 shows. Maybe a tie and a vest a few more times. That's a bad ratio for Interpol.
