El-P new record 'Cancer for Cure' will feature appearances from recent collaborator Killer Mike, Danny Brown, Interpol's Paul Banks, Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire, and others.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The LP will feature a number of high-profile guests, including Danny Brown, Nick Thorburn of Islands, Paul Banks of Interpol, Killer Mike and Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire, among others.

According to a press release, Cancer for Cure is a "bombastic collision of synths, bottomless bass tones, live instrumentation, ear-worming melody, and tightly coiled drum patterns, setting the standard for hip hop production higher than ever."

Pretty excited to hear this record. I'm a sucker for hip-hop production just like Paul. ^_^

Although I'm not a huge fan of those "one-off" singles that he claims to like in that Australian Triple J interview back in 2007.

"There are some fascinating features on the record. How did Interpol’s Paul Banks get involved, and what does he bring to his respective track?

“Paul does back up vocals on a song called ‘Works Every Time’. Everyone on the record is a friend and someone that naturally fell in to the project. I don’t go for features for features sake, usually.”"

I was hoping he produced a track. That's something I'd love to hear.
Hasn't Paul said he wants to produce hiphop, or did I just imagine it?

I was really hoping for some sweet vocal-background-paul-magic, but I didn't get it. To be honest, if noone would have mentioned Paul being in that track I woulden't have known. Perhaps that's a good thing, seeing he "only did the backing vocals", perhaps it isn't such a good thing if you really wish to hear Paul.

The main vocal reminds me of a beatnik reciting his poetry.

So the "anything anything" part is Paul's vocal. Oh well.

I also saw the tagged post on tumblr with #U2 and #Interpol on the topic of opening bands and how people don't care about them. It's going to be a busy day. LOL

You guys have tough skin. I'd cry and am not a fighter. LOL

I liked it. Not so much for Paul. I think it's his way of dipping his feet into the pool more into hip hop, something he obviously likes. Overall, it sounded like an El-P track and if that's not your thing, you probably won't like it.

Anyone know if he was at the launch party for the album last night? Or maybe even did the backing vocals live there?

El-P recently did this song live at Conan. I was hoping to see a glimps of Paul (even though this song is dreadful, thank god for the mute button) but Zola Jesus took over the backing vocals. If you can even call it "backing vocals", seeing it's just "anything" looped over again.
