Not sure what you are referring to but when I first noticed them, they were the media's darlings, the Next Big Thing. At least until the next Next Big Thing. ^_^

I wasn't there from the beginning to know what actually happened but keep reading about the Joy Division comparison for ages now.

But in a bottom corner, there was a small but pretty postive piece on Interpol alongside a picture. (As I was reading it, in a pub, in Camden Town, I looked up and saw the four people in the picture.
Dan saw me looking at them and seemed to acknowledge my double-take as I looked back at the page then back at them.
I've mentioned this before elsewhere in this here forum but I wish I'd gone over and had a natter).
I vaguely recall the music press treating them as a slow burner but references to 'dour' and a number of Manchester bands of the late 70's and early 80's wouldn't have helped the cause in their eyes.
Press interest reached its peak with Antics I reckon, well as far as the UK is concerned - Beaumonts piece was around OLTA wasn't it?

Great story! If I've read it before, I've forgotten it. One of the first big mentions I remember was Pitchfork. That was a brief romance.

Can someone translate please? WTF is a baller?
Okay, I googled it. They made it to the big time.
Yes, they did and now every stupid critic has to talk shit about them because it's too different from the roots, or they've "lost touch".
Whatever.

I have a feeling the fifth album is already written off as bad because Carlos has no involvement in it.

I have had that same feeling too. Hopefully they will just drop all the haters and pick up shiny new great fans. ^_^
