Seeing as its over for most of us :-(

Best one for me is going to Bristol airport the day after the gig, to find my flight back to the Isle of Man cancelled. Refusing the offer of a free coach to Manchester for a later flight, getting on the Gatwick flight the next day, before legging it to Cambridge, where I booked a hotel and sorted a ticket out on the way there. Walking into school (I teach) on the Tuesday and most of my students thinking I was a legend. And speaking to the deputy head on the way there telling her that I wasnt going to sit in a hotel with my thumb up my arse feeling sorry for myself because my flight was cancelled.

The banter down the front at Sziget and Electric Picnic was bloody fantastic. The time between acts just flew by. Lovely people.

The flag getting a good reaction wherever it went.

Only did eight gigs this tour, being a teacher and being on the Isle of Man isnt the best job for getting to lots of gigs, but a good time was had by all.

Nice idea for a thread.

The best shows for me were definitely on the early part of the tour. I had a blast doing a little roadtrip with friends for their first shows in Rochester and Buffalo... got to see some people I hadn't seen in a long time and made some new friends, too. As far as my experience with Interpol's performance, the New Haven and Williamsburg shows were the best. For overall fun times... it's hard to say... Rochester, New Haven, Boston, Williamsburg, Clifton Park--all last summer/early fall. All of those shows were a lot of fun (though the Clifton Park performance felt a little rushed to me). Those are all nights I'll never forget.

Rochester
Road trip w/my girls, part I. Finally did a show with <3 TheNew ('bout f'-in time). Nice chat before the show with some kids, nice little chats w/Paul and Sam afterwards, and a very funny time after the show hanging out with new friends. Olives!! Chocolate!!

Buffalo
Road trip w/my girls, part II. Great to hang out with some folks I hadn't seen in a while at this show. Interpol's performance was improved over the previous night, and the venue was a bit better. Got to chat w/Sam, Daniel, Dave, and Brandon afterwards.

New Haven
Great venue. Hung out with old friends and happily ran into some people I hadn't seen in a while. Got my camera in unexpectedly and had some lovely drinks. Enjoyed myself tremendously (as those around me could plainly see--thanks for catching me and my falling drinks). Everyone looked and felt good on this night. Heard "Barricade" live for the first time. I very much wish this night had stretched out longer than it did, but maybe it's best that it ended up just as it was, before anything could possibly spoil it!

Boston
Reunited with one of my girls for this one! Met some nice people in line. Sometimes you have experiences with the band where they disappoint you and you feel like their perspectives are warped, but this was one of those nights when I saw a very human side of some of the guys. Very sweet. The sound was excellent and the crowd was really up for it. Had a fabulous time hanging out and generally misbehaving with friends afterwards. Birthday celebration (not mine), wandering around drunk... A night to remember for sure.

Clifton Park
This was a crazy night for me... the drive to the venue was crazy with construction and traffic along the way. The venue was in a weird little strip mall. Got there just in time. Saw some good friends again. Felt very amped up... It was bittersweet for me as I knew it would be my last time--at least for a while--seeing some new friends I'd made on the tour. Finally got to meet Bobby after all these years and he was super sweet--gave me a handful of Sam's drumsticks. <3 Said my goodbyes to friends and reluctantly departed.

Williamsburg
What can I possibly say about this day/night to do it justice? I was fortunate to be invited in to the Matador offices to help with the live chat in the afternoon. Met some very cool people. Hung out with friends outside the venue before the show. The performance was fantastic--possibly the best I saw them do on the tour. The crowd was really into it. It was some of the best energy I'd felt at an Interpol show in a while. Went to a dream-like afterparty in a beautiful hotel where I was treated to strong (and expensive!) drinks, a twinkling cityscape, and good conversation. Had to yell a bit because it was noisy, but a good time was had by all. Got in very late/early.

Those were good times! The electricity was still flowing through the performances. The shows I saw later in the tour sadly lacked that intensity. But whatever... last summer/fall was a really great time. Thank you Interpol and everyone I hung out with on the tour. Let's do it all over again sometime.

Yeah... That was a highlight of the later shows for sure, even if the overall experience for me at those shows wasn't as phenomenal as it was earlier on the tour.

Finally hearing The New live after waiting since my first Interpol gig in 2003, can't beat that, especially as it was in my 'home' venue Nottingham Rock City, the place where all my best musical memories are.

Getting stuck in Leeds one way system for aaaages...so stressful.

Feeling sad that Carlos wasn't there.

Managing to have an almost coherent conversation with Daniel after the Birmingham show, and feeling pleased they don't look scared of me any more (though it was probably my paranoia before).

The August 2010 show in Montreal.

On the balcony, I was dying to see them live. I loved their music, and heard they gave a hell of a show. Since I got engaged to the soundtrack of OLTA (Lighthouse) I was determined to hear them out, at least once.

BLEW my mind. I didn't even know their names. I just knew I liked the rockabilly dude dancing while playing the guitar. Paul's voice was even better live. Two weeks after still jonesing after the show (a first for me) I came here and opened an account.

The February 2011 show.
Got in line at 5pm after spending the afternoon looking for a silver sharpie all over town.
Froze my feet and meet a bunch of lovely people, including Bellatrix (amazing young lady - sorry for sounding so matronly) and Vera. Rushed to be in front of the stage with my frozen feet, and was blown away, again at the amazing performance. I got The Lighthouse live. Stef and I shed a couple tears while holding hands to the song.

Then snapped a set list and rushed to the alley and wait another hour or so before they started trickling out. First Pajo, then Brandon, Paul and finally Daniel. Got a direct tweet from Pajo the next day. Was floating for a whole week. I was glad I took most of the week off. I don't know I could've been productive at all.

October 2010 Las Vegas, NV
Me and my gf's first INTERPOL show and it was awesome!! I was amazed and shocked to what I was seeing. The lights they had during each song made it more alive than ever before.
Seeing Daniels moves on stage :D . Watching Sam focus on the beat he produced. Seeing Paul smile and enjoying the crowed before him jump with joy. But no Carlos...
This was worth a 5 1/2hr drive.

February 2011 Tempe, AZ

This was a 4 1/2hr drive and worth the 3hr wait outside. What made this show special was getting Daniel to say "Hi" to us and catching one of Sam's sticks. Yup...when we caught it we held onto to it
for dear life. Like a new born baby. We were filled with joy and haha...should've seen our faces. :wub:
Also recorded the whole show and posted it on youtube. Later I found out what caused my blurryness during some shots after the show...a finger print smug.

April 2011 Tucson, AZ

Another 5 1/2hr drive and 4hr wait outside. We started to notice that after each show luck was on our side. We couldn't believe our night. We got to hear "Specialist" and "The Lighthouse" Having Sam say "Hi" to us. At the end of the show once again Sam threw his sticks and what do you know my gf jump up and barley touch her fingers, going to the person behind her. Shame...but its ok. After the show we bought some swag and those limited edition tour posters. Waited outside for them and for our last show they came out . Managed to
get a ourselves a pic with Daniel and our poster signed. Shortly after Paul came out and my gf ran up and got a hug from him and his autograph. Yup...that made her so happy. You know girls...haha.
But Sam never came out...oh well better luck next time. Spoke to Brad for bit which was awesome too.

Yup...INTERPOL. The only band on my iPod.

The venue is horrible, but all the top indie acts come to Northern Lights, if they bother coming to the Capital District. And I'm pretty sure there was no a/c of any significance. Thanks to WEQX for sponsoring it and playing Interpol on their radio station quite often. It was the only good thing about upstate NY.
BTW, did you ever take any pictures from that night? It would have been so nice to have top quality pictures from that concert.

November 2010 Newcastle & Edinburgh

From the point of when tickets where bought early June 2010 the 5 month wait was painful, seeing others here post about there experiences and seeing the amazing pics emerge from the shows only intensified my impatience ~ but the wait was well worth it, they played The New & Untitled for my first show I was pretty pleased with myself ;) Left the venue outside snowflakes the size of footballs where falling, I got lost on way back to hotel but being euphoric I didn't seem to care. Edinburgh show was just as amazing as Newcastle and the journey back through to Glasgow was horrendous temp -18

March 2011 Bristol Cambridge and Leeds

Bristol show was good as was Cambridge but Leeds ~ Specialist was played that became my favorite show until that point at least

August 2011 Glasgow Would now rate this as favorite show Specialist again :D The New but getting to hear Leif for the first time was just the icing in an already perfect cake and made this show for me personal best.

I was freezing at that show--I remember it well. So, at least before the crowd got going, it felt like the a/c was working hard.

I had a photo pass that night but was told strictly to only shoot the openers. There was one person shooting Interpol, and initially their tour manager gave her a hard time. Wish I knew who she was shooting for. I would have loved to shoot that night... small venue w/lots of lights--it would've been good.

OK, I promised my son (who is friendly with Dave Pajo) that I wouldn't admit this publicly but this thread is just too tempting. Dave asked us for a ride home from the first Atlantic City show at the House of Blues. It was as natural as it was surreal. I won't betray any confidences but, trust me, he's the real deal.

Musically - "The Lighthouse" at The Tower in Philly.

And I got a real sense of pride seeing them on the big U2 stage...even though I do believe I was the only one listening to them. :angry:

Altogether I had such a goo time at all the shows I attended. Got to some places I hadn't been to before, met so many nice people.

First show of this tour was the one in London @ Heaven on september 15, 2010. This one was special because it was the first one in Europe and I was so excited to see them again. But the sound was awful :( And they tortured us for hours with a house DJ until the band played.

Next one was at the l'Aeronef in Lille, France on september 21, 2010. This is the one I like to remember most. Was so nice to meet my friend from Vienna in Brussels, hop on a train to Lille and run into Mr. Kessler in the afternoon. The show was awesome and afterwards we waited outside and I finally had the guts to talk to Sam and Daniel.

Vienna in november was nice but for me the show at the Tempodrom in Berlin 2 days later was the deal. A lot of friends were there and I guess seeing them in your hometown feels special too. Plus it was a really good show! Oh and my husband had not ticket for the show, it was sold out since weeks or months. He went to venue quite late only to run into someone giving him a ticket for free and disappear into the blue!

Then a few shows in UK in december. Went to Liverpool for the first time, such a lovely city! Met so many old and new people there, a part of those nights I really enjoy. Was kinda crazy at the front, had a fight with a girl (not physical ;-) ). We waited for the band to come out and it was freezing.
Got my picture with Mr. Kessler but I still can't remember that part of the night because I would end up in the hospital not much later with a concussion. Damn freezing rain! Had to miss the first show at Brixton Academy because of my head. Went to the other 2 though and Brixton Academy is amazing itself.

For this first part I am very happy I got to see David Pajo.

In march 2011 2 nights at Docks in Hamburg. Again meeting and freezing with
the usual suspects. Always fun. First show with Brad Truax, who did a good job! Both nights were really good but compared to the shows in 2010 the guys did seem tired.
Only a few days later in Leipzig they only seemed tired. Or maybe that was me? My best friend was at the front row with me. So funny, I told her to stand with me at the Kessler side of the stage where you have a pretty easy time at the front compared to the spot in front of Paul. And the best view anyway http://www.interpolnyc.com/forum//public/style_emoticons/default/blush.gif But somehow she ended up right in front of Paul and had to fight some crazy guys trying to climb across her

Unfortunately this was my last show, I had to cancel Munich and London.

Toronto Show- Awesome to see them in my hometown and it was tight. Very warm but perfect.

London Show- I loved it. Met some great people and had a ball. So much energy that night

Buffalo Show- the first time I saw them live. Nothing compares to that. It felt a bit like a warm up but it was so new to me I didn't even notice.

Seeing them live, it's something else. I loved every show.

I feel bad for not mentioning each person I met by name (or at least screen name), but it would be a big list and I'm sure I'd mistakenly leave someone out and feel like a jerk. I'll just add in that the Radio City show was pretty cool--even if the performance didn't wow me the way it should have (I had a headache, it was in the thick of the tour, the excitement and novelty that were there the first time they played RCMH were absent, my seat wasn't that great). Had a photo pass. Their restrictions on photographers were kind of crazy and frustrating, but I was still all glowy about photographing at Radio City. "The New" was glorious, and I got to meet a bunch of people (ThenGo!) and see a lot of good friends (interpolMOD1! Shred! storminateacup! Others whose screen names escape me!). I'm not actually sure I was particularly good company because of that aforementioned headache. The afterparty, while not as amazing (or drunk... draw your own conclusions) for me as the one after the Williamsburg show, was indie/alterna star-studded. Lots of good people-watching, speaking of novelties...

August 2010:
- Saw them live for the first time.
- Paul and Daniel coming out to say hello to the early birds in line.
- Front row center, surrounded by a bunch of great people.

February 2011:
- First to arrive again. Someone who either works for the band or the venue took pity on me since it was freezing and let me inside early. I was able watch part of their soundcheck and stay warm inside until everyone else started to show up.
- Front row center again.
- I nearly lost it when they started up with Leif.
- The New was just flawless.

...shame on me too! The RCMH highlight for me was meeting Tercat, Shred, Storm, SDX & Mod1, even though the time spent felt hurried. The show, however, was a disappointment, most likely because I had built it up in my mind to unattainable heights. I expected amazing sound & good seats and experienced neither. Plus, I was really looking forward to SVIIB and I could barely hear them. Oh well, no need for negativity but meeting forum folk really saved the experience for me.

I've managed to see them twice.

Milan, 2010. First time at an Interpol show. Kind of surprised myself of actually going through with it since it wasn't the shortest of trips.
Stood pretty close to the stage. Can't really describe how it was, being the first time and all, it wasn't something easy to comprehend. The show flew and I was already confused
about the exact set list. Enjoyed the show, city and the experience overall. Worth the trip. Something to always remember.

Summer Well Festival, 2011. Seemed something of a blasphemy with me not attending this show given it was in my home country (with the chance of this
happening again very slim). I enjoyed the show a bit more since it was my second (and more relaxed) time. More of a low-key affair (even with the 'festival' label) and the way I like it.
Went with a couple of friends which were relatively complete strangers to Interpol and was surprised when they enjoyed it since it wasn't even their type of music.
Maybe the best C'mere i've heard and glad to have heard Leif also.

I get frustrated sometimes of how I forgot most of the details of the shows and how specific songs sounded afterwards.

Will make the trip next time they're in Europe.

I'd say that my memory of this tour is a sad one as the gig I was supposed to go was cancelled (Caen, France, Thursday September 16th 2010). I still remember buying my ticket and giving my cellphone number just in case the show would be cancelled and when I got the text, I was upset and cross with them especially as no mention whatsoever of why the gig was cancelled was issued. My bad mood lasted for a while but then their music is more powerful!
So I didn't have the chance to see them on this tour but thanks to many fans on this board, I managed to feel the pace and to take part in a way. I just hope that I'll see them on the next tour and maybe I'll meet some of you
