As we met Interpol's guitarist Daniel Kessler at Leeds Festival they were at the business end of a mammoth two year tour of their 4th studio album, Interpol. Now together for over a decade, and surviving their fair share of scrapes (including the departure of bassist Carlos D) they are without doubt a wiser and more mature version of the young band who released Turn On The Bright Lights way back in 2001.
Daniel was kind enough to talk with us at length on a variety of different topics, but the thing that puzzles us most here at Contactmusic is how, in the mire that was Friday, he had not a single speck of mud on his immaculate suit or even his wellies. The very definition of cool, we say.

Long interview. I bet it was their mgr Dean, over to the left going wrap it up lady, they've got to get on stage.
Oh Daniel, he must be relieved to be done with interviews for awhile. hehe Damn he has such great hair. ;)
Always good to feel that positive vibe about a new album one day.
Thanks for posting. :)

Although I'm quite fluent in English, some questions were difficult for me to understand, must be the accent! or the noise of knives and forks (?) plus laughs! around Daniel. He seems distracted too! The 'anecdote' about the weather and then imagining him in wellies made me laugh.
Thanks for sharing this interview. It's always a pleasure to listen to Daniel. I never get tired of him...
