I thought you'd like to know whats happened to a PIAS Warehouse during these riots in London.

Scroll a bit further down after the twitter link to see the amount of Indie labels that PIAS disribute/work with.

Includes Ambush Reality, Rough Trade Etc

Chemikal Underground have said they've been affected which pissed me off the most...

Luckily no one was hurt, but I guess alot of stock has been destroyed. I don't want to go into it too much becasue I'm not 100% sure who has been directly affected by the fire, and don't want to be spreading false news.

I hope some kind of insurance covers the indie labels for anything destroyed/delayed in being released because of this.

It's terrible. Time is already rough. These riots just make things worse. The riots have spread to other places as well.

Watched some of this last night/early hours of this morning and was completely disgusted by it, during the live updates the Sony warehouse was mentioned but didn't realize what it was used for ~ they apparently looted the place too just to add insult to injury

Doo (type 2), that link doesnt seem to work

I'll try to sum up the situation again and post some links if anyone is willing to help

As some of you know, a fire which started during the London riots destroyed the Sony warehouse holding the Pias inventory. The warehouse contained records from almost 200 indpendent labels, as well as singles and albums set for release by more established artists such as Arctic Monkeys and Charlie Simpson.

Now a campaign has been launched to help labels affected, with the LabelLove website http://cognitvedisso....com/labellove/ set up to allows music fans to donate money to the cause. People can also email labellovebenefit@gmail.com to find out about other ways to help out.

A Twitter account @_label_love_ has been set up to keep followers updated with the latest news while the hashtag #labellove is being used by music fans to voice support.

Sean Adams, who founded the website Drowned in Sound, has compiled a spreadsheet of the artists distributed by Pias. He aims to open this up to hackers in the hope they can build tools using the data to encourage fans to buy music on the labels affected. You can help Sean here http://drownedinsoun...s/music/4300077

Simon Raymonde of Cocteau Twins fame, but also the head of Bella Union Records (not affected by fire) has also offered up space in his warehouse. You can contact Simon at Facebook, which is where I saw this post.
