Pretty brave of him. Sometimes the acting (well, that's what it is, right?) works and sometimes I'm less convinced. There are shades of The Silence of the Lambs, though it's a subtle thing and maybe it's just me. The music reminds me a little of Twin Peaks; I admittedly have never been a total Twin Peaks fanatic, so a die-hard fan who's more familiar with the music might disagree.

Yeah, I've only seen the screen caps alone and I don't think I can bring myself to watch it just yet. I think I may have to gather my strength before I see it.

Don't bother, the other video makes no sense whatsoever. The music for both videos are very good, but that's just about it.

Nah...Carlos was AMAZING during the TOTBL and Antics eras. Carlos is still considered to be one of the best bassists out there and it's a damn shame he stopped playing. If he wanted to play guitar (or another instrument), he could have just joined another band or formed his own band.
I cannot begin to express my utter disappointment. I wouldn't mind if Carlos was composing and moving on to create great stuff, but those videos recently posted? It's just garbage. It reminds me of some dude I went to college with who would do stuff that only he would understand. That's not art. An artist does stuff and allows you to go into his world, but it still has to make sense. I wouldn't even mind if Carlos decided to drop out and just go on with his life (I know several musicians and actors who have done just that), but he sends mixed messages when he uploads outrageous shit like that. Makes me think he is conflicted with his decision.

David Lynch is considered to be an artist, and his stuff does not necessarily "make sense." That's just one example, there are LOTS of others. The whole "what is art" question is a big one, and it's debatable. All that said, I think this clip looks like a student exercise. That's not necessarily inappropriate--he is an acting student now, isn't he?

I do think Carlos is a good musician but his aloofness and general demeanor is very off putting to me. He also strikes me as being troubled, and ...off. That said, i dont know him so this is all based on the few video interviews I saw of him. I may be wrong.
Ter, that's exactly what I thought when I saw it. It's applying various acting, editing and framing methods. However the subject matter is flat. Why is a man dressed in doilies and doctor garb having a breakdown over a piece of raw chicken?
Maybe that was the project? Or something about the chicken and the egg? An existential crisis?

Yeah, yeah...but at the end of the day, an artist still has to make a connection with his/her audience. It may not have to make perfect sense, but it has to spark some interest, or invoke some emotion to outsiders, otherwise the message sent collapses.
Back to the video: with the exception of the music, that video is utter crap and I **still** don't get that someone with crazy, sick talent as a musician would throw it away to study acting. Sorry Carlos...

Oh no worries...everyone is entitled to their opinion. It's just that for some us who remember Carlos during TOTBL and Antics, Carlos was a much nicer, happier person then.

Well, it's nice to see him again, even if he is bloody, hairy and demonic looking. Good to see he saved his fishnet top from the goth days of Carlos.
The music is nice but I'm getting an American Psycho feeling from this. He should remake it with a Huey Lewis soundtrack :P

All this Carlos talk has me conflicted. I regard him fondly and hope he's happy with whatever it is he chooses. He's doing theater now, right? Everyone is looking at the video so seriously, I just thought it was fun. Am I supposed to look into it more? I didn't think so. But I guess I am? I'm more confused by everyone's reactions than the video itself. Am I supposed to find meaning in it? Why? Ah!
