It will be great if they actually start communicating a bit.

Hey youse,
We did a show in Mexico this weekend, and it was incredible.
Many many fans turned up and a raucous time was had by all.
Check out this vid of the crowd that I shot as we left the stage.
It’s a short clip, but pretty sweet.
Many thanks and muchas gracias to everyone who helped make
it a wonderful evening.
P

(There's a video.)

Me too. Hmmm....maybe they are trying to be more social with the fans. That's pretty cool :)

They're definitely trying to connect with fans more, and I think they see how much fans appreciate the personal touches. I wouldn't be surprised to see this kind of thing continue, at least as long as they're on tour.

That's the same reaction I had.

There's a video of him taking a video of the crowd under this thread, http://www.interpoln...al/page__st__50

Not only are these little gestures fun for fans, it's smart business for them. Honestly, I've always thought they came off a bit aloof. With social networking, it's pretty painless to send a mass shout out to those supporting you. They'd be wise to schmooz their fanbase.

Yep. And I think that's exactly what this is all about. Not complaining one bit. I'm more than happy to be on the receiving end.

I kind of like the aloofness because it makes them mysterious.

I don't mind them posting. I just hope they don't end up replying to people individually. I just get annoyed when people try to fish for replies.

I doubt they'll do much of that. Maybe in very special cases...

Naw, I don't see them getting all chatty or anything. Just enough to let fans know they notice. I really enjoy Pajo's "Room With a View" tweets. Such a silly little thing, but I look forward to them. I'd love to know if they are building new fans. I know there are a lot of people who used to be here that have moved on. I don't expect "Interpol" to be an album that will grab many new fans, but I'd love to be dead wrong about that.

Like tercat said I doubt they will end up doing this. The twitter account has been around for a while but it only became active lately. I also noticed much more involvement on Facebook and MySpace. I know the girl that is (was) in charge of those was complaining about how bad the communication with Capital was etc so I guess once again we should thank Matador for all this new involvement. Along with Paul, Sam and Daniel of course

I love Dave's Twitter, too! Those hotel view shots from around the world are always fun to see because they're so varied. That's the kind of stuff I like getting from the people I follow on Twitter, just enough to give you some cool insights into what they're doing but not overkill.

Is http://twitter.com/interpolnyc also the band's official account?
That seems to have been the one used to tweet until this leg of the tour.

Exactly. Some feedback with their fans is totally harmless. Besides, it adds some flexibility in their way to interact with their fanbase, specially when they have such a rigid and cold website. I mean, it's not one of the sites you enjoy browsing. It always seemed to me that they had a web 'cause they had to and not because they wanted to. So now any new approach is welcome.

Paul just posted this on their Twitter account: http://twitter.com/Interpol

"Other night at the Fox in Pomona, a young man proposed to his lady. Carlos and Karina, congrats. And thanks for the romance. P"

Sweet

I read in the Pomona thread where Paul dedicated Leif Erikson to Karina at the Pomona show.
