The Aftermath Of The Update

Very often I get that message when I try to post something:
[#20310] Your secure key, used to verify you are posting the topic, did not match the one submitted. Please go back, reload the form, and try again.
Then I can copy the text but it is full of <br> codes that I have to clean up again.
when I try to log out I get a message saying that I do not have the permission to do so. Not always, but often.
I still can't upload a user picture but I can update the avatar
And one little thing that's really annoying: there is this tiny arrow at the right of every thread and next to it the time of the last post. If I press the time I always get to the first post of the thread not to the last. If you press the arrow you get to the last post. Any chance you can change that? I am still used to get to the last post if press the words "last post" ;-)
thanks

I noticed that error message too but it usually appears when I started a reply in a thread or a PM, then stop writing for a while and come back to it after over 10 mins. And though technically I'm still logged in, it seems to do so as if my time to reply to that thread ran out. Is that what happens to you? How often does it occur? Does anybody else experience something similar?
The "log out" thing has never happened to me and I'd like to know if someone else other than you has that to see if its a common thing or just occasional. What I noticed (and it buggers me) is that I used to be able to stay logged in for days and days even if I turned off the computer etc (like on facebook or gmail) whereas now every time I turn off my computer or if I dont come here for a few hours , I'll have to re-log in again. Which is annoying especially when you get a PM and you'd like to click on the link on your email and just be linked to the PM straightway like it used to be. I asked about that and apparently its just a new default of the upgraded version...
Same problem for the picture. Everybody can upload avatar and signature but nobody can upload a profile picture. I tried editing the specifications on the admin control panel etc a few times with no result....till desperate I asked and again it seems to be a general problem with this new version. the profile picture (the way its now facebook style) is a new feature but apparently this new IP version still hasnt fixed this problem and I'm afraid we'll have to wait for the new version which is not ready yet...
So basically as you can see, though the upgrade was mainly necessary as people couldnt register anymore (problem now solved), and the new version has very nice features and everything, it also has a lot of little issues that dont seem to be fixable at least not by us who only have a limited access to the whole system. You know me so you should imagine how frustrating all this is for me and the others as well!!
I'll now look into the last problem you mentioned and will try to get back to you a bit later

As I said it'd be interesting to have other people's feedback as well. Some members contacted me about issues they only seemed to have and we found out it was just their own computer problem and either they had to refresh their bookmarks-cookies or simply edited their profile etc. I'm not saying thats the case, but I'd be very happy if other people told us if they experience any of the above issues (other than the profile picture which once again we're really sorry but its a general problem that cant be fixed for the time being)

I've had the error message, too. Next time it happens I'll try to take note of the circumstances.

Yeah, thats really annoying but at least its understandable as to me it only happens when I leave the page open with no action for a long while. But it seems that rose_mary has it more often and for other reasons too, which its even more annoying

Thanks for the reply :)
It also happens if just start writing a few sentences very quick. And it happens on my computer at home and at work. Will have an eye on the log out thing to describe it better. I can keep signed in, just if I try to post something it kicks me out somehow.Good that I don't post that much haha.
And it happened again right now. I just logged in and did not spend much time writing this. argh.
oh and the last post thing now works for me too. I swear it did not before!

Try this: delete the forum from your bookmarks, delete all the history of your web browser and then log in again, and maybe it will happen less often or only if you stop writing and leave the page open for a long while which is not ideal but less annoying. I know it sounds silly but some other issues were fixed this way
I'm glad the arrow thing is now sorted

I also made the Session Expiration longer. its now set to 2000 seconds which is a long time. I cant make it any longer for security reason. This means that you shouldnt be kicked out while writing even if you stop any activity for a few minutes. Rose_mary, it was set to 1200 seconds earlier which I understand was longer than it allowed you to stay logged in....so I'm not sure that was your problem. Let me know if anything has changed now
Hazey Jane, are you talking about the "arrow" rose_mary was talking about? Also on the main index or the a subforum (for instance the articles page etc)? As I said it should take you to the very last post if you click on the arrow, to the last read if you click on the time and to the first post if you click on the name of the thread. Let me know if this doesnt happen to you. Occasionally it doesnt to me but only once every 30 something times, which means its simply a system error

I always click on the thread's name. I'll try to click on this arrow thing and see what happens.

Do you have any chance to let them open in a new window again? I think it is easier if you keep the page open you came from, if you know what I mean.

I know what you mean. I'll try to look into it later
