Okay, so I don't speak Spanish much. Who wants to be an absolute star and transcribe/translate the interview ari mentions? I know it's a lot to ask...

but he already made another interview for another radio station and he is so adorable, speaks great spanish and "feels our love" hahaha... now, the important thing: he spoke about interpol, they already have the album and he loves it, also spoke about his feeling regardin the other albums: he was amazed by TOTBL, and traumatized by OLTA,hahaha. And if everything goes as planed, they're gonna to release the album this summer, and he promised to come back soon but not with julian plenti...great.

I love this city! .- Julian Plenti

Thursday, February 25th, 2010 11:43

El Pais - Entertainment
Mexico City (25 February 2010) .- breathe some smog and practice their Spanish in Mexico City are pleasures for Julian Plenti are priceless.

Just arrived in Mexico City Tuesday night, contacted the friends he made a decade ago when he spent one year in Mexico City, and was given the task of trying things you like about Mexico, like good tequila or tacos.

"Reaching the City, and being here gives me a feeling of strong déjà vu. Everything seems the same as if I had not gone, it's an adventure motivated to return and isn't for one reason only professional but also personal, I love this city!" says Plenti, exclusively.

In the alternative music scene, Paul Julian Banks is best known as Paul Banks, leader of the indie rock band Interpol, but the Briton, who lives in New York, began his career as a solo album .. Julian Plenti Is Skyscraper, which came to present last night, live in the Polyforum Cultural Siqueiros.

"Playing live by myself and others with a band Interpol, makes a huge difference. It's me, and I have that responsibility. I can not blame anyone if something happens or make comments in some way. It's my turn to be the orchestrator and squeeze in a more direct, clear. In the band we are all expressed, with my record I'm just me, nothing more ... and if it breaks or goes wrong, it is because of me" he says.

With some shows in the U.S. and some other parts of the world, the singer, guitarist and producer, with 31, talks about his solo debut with evident enthusiasm and a very natural illusion.

"It's that long in order to make it known. The record industry does not interest me, I can not tell anyone of what I do. If you like it or not, that does not depend on me, but I had to overcome many things, like time and the agenda for the songs I wanted.

"One of my favorites is 'Girl on the Sporting News', it seems that something it's missing. I had everything against that song, and yes we could achieve it. The mixture was not ended, had some things that did not convince me, so I had a lot of work with that song. Now I feel that there is a part of me in that song, I really enjoy it" - says Julian.

Reluctant to create any account on Twitter or Facebook, and even not too keen on the Internet, says Julian Plenti not understand how people get to become addicted to these networks.

"I am a 'workaholic' ... I confess that I work too much and do not stop. I love to be creating, or thinking, perhaps producing. What I hear in music comes to me by friends for recommendations, for example, I listen nonstop a song that I loved, 'Left Foot Stepdown' by The Bees, it's great" says, combining Spanish with English.

Julian Plenti arrived Tuesday at the International Airport of Mexico City, from New York and accompanied by his musicians and the staff he works with.

Interpol, in view

Paul Julian Banks, in his facet as a singer of Interpol, said that everything is ready to enter the summer and autumn of this year it goes on sale the new production of the group that became known internationally.

"We already have all the songs, is recorded. Everyone took the time to do her thing and we just finish the album. It's still not quite defined the title, but it will be known soon" anticipates the partner of Daniel Kessler, Carlos D and Sam Fogarino.

And he said that with the show last night in Mexico City, would close his solo tour and return to his work with the quartet, but considered that in the last two months of 2010 could be a space to perform, alone, a South American tour .

If someone could do a better translation I'd appreciate it. ;)

He actually said he was traumatized by OLTA, yes? I will have a lot more respect for the guys if they admit it was a bad album. I hope he did.

I'm pleased to hear he loves the new album; I trust his judgement a bit more now he made the comment on OLTA. (If it's true)

Plus, are the interviews happening now? Any chance of some links to listen in?

I wonder if he meant he was traumatized making it, or traumatized with the finished product, or something else. Same with his comments about TOTBL. I'd like more context. I really hope we can get a translation of that interview.

pqsm, thanks very much for your translation of the other one. He is right about the Internet--at least, from my perspective. I'd be better off junking the whole thing, except as a way to look things up. I consider it often. I waste way too much time on the 'net.

I don't think it will have been the making of it! I remember an interview during the OLTA phase when he said something about TOTBL being an easy one because no one was expecting anything, but Antics being a terrible one for him because of the pressure brought from TOTBL (not sleeping etc) and for OLTA he didn't care anymore because they had proven their quality. I'm of course paraphrasing, just to be clear.

Yeah, I remember a lot of that, but sometimes perspectives change as time passes. I'd just like to read the context of the interview if possible.

To be honest I understood "traumatized" making it too. I remember that interview as well, but as tercat says perpectives can change over the years. Maybe I'm wrong

However I have a positive feeling about this LONG-waited new album

Oh and thanks guys for the links and translations etc :)

Link with review and some photos from 2nd show in México at the anniversary party for Nylon Magazine in a venue located south of the city, Colonia Del Valle - The Amapola Cabaret & Ballroom, a day after his presentation in the Polyforum Siqueiros.

From what I understand, he was more relaxed less formal, perhaps the place was too small (compared to where it had played the night before) and the public were very friendly. He offered a shorter and less intimate show but no less successful, with excellent Spanish, he mentioned that was one of the last shows for them in a long time. That's all..

He does speak almost perfect Spanish, but his Spanish is quite unique. Paul has Castilian pronunciation with Mexican intonation. I know it sounds weird but it's true.

Paul lived in both Madrid and Mexico city as a kid/teenager, hence his mixed accent

I don't think so.
After "muchas gracias" he said "esta cancione se llama Unwind, queremos decir gracias a Nylon, por tenermos aqui, pués yá vamos a tocar unas mas canciones for more entertainment" something like that.

A little bit of the new intro "Running Man":
