Now the albums out, lets start getting into specific songs :)
I suppose H is sort of like the 'Lighthouse' of Is... Skyscraper. Most unexpected (for me) but a real great song (imo anyway). Anybody have any idea what those lyrics are though? Punjabi of some sort? I don't have a clue. A translation would be great.

I do have one big gripe with this song though as I've mentioned on another thread a few times - the song ends WAY too soon! Personally, if the song had another 2 and a half mins or so of what it seemed to be building up to, it would easily be the best song on the album for me. I absolutely love the instrumental part, and it just ends so damn abruptly. Really dissapointing if I'm honest.

So, what do you guys and gals think?

It's one of the albums highlights for me too!
I love the idea of Paul playing piano.
I don't think there are any lyrics, just wordless vocals. And as for their meaning.. pfft.. I don't know at all! Still love the song though!

Some guy on twitter some how came up with the idea that it stands for "Heroin"

Your guess is as good as mine.

I know that Paul doesnt get too personal when he writes lyrics, but I doubt its about Heroin to be honest. As far as I know he's never been involved in such a thing.....
I dont like this song. I really dont get it. A bit experimental? Fine, but it doesnt seem to go anywhere IMO. Sorry

I love this song and agree that it's too short. Maybe JP will release an extended version at some point? Very atmospheric. Reminds me of some sort of throat singing (overtone singing): http://en.wikipedia....vertone_singing

I agree. I also find the piano line slightly annoying and the song didn't catch me the way some of the others did. But it's not too bad; it sounds like an album-ender, at least. It's just not one of my favourites.

^^^ Yes it does sound like a sort of experimental filler to me. It doesnt bother me much but I always end up skipping it to listen to Only if you run again

I've not the foggiest what meaning this song could have. I like it more than I did to start with, it's not bottom of the pile any more, but I'm still not really into it. I feel the last two songs on the album have some good sounds in them or start off well but just meander and don't turn into anything, so you get bored halfway through.

I thought it worked well as background music for that short clip on JP's website though. Sounds like 'incidental music' somehow.

I kind of like it, the piano in it is beautiful but I dont really like the high pitched singing in it. I think the other tracks on the album are a lot better for the most part.

I had a feeling this was Buddhist chanting, so I did some searching on YouTube and found this: http://www.youtube.c...feature=related . Pretty close.

It's perfect! Paul must've sampled this.

I agree that it works as an album ender/show opener to set the atmosphere.

Perhaps it's an elegy to the Autotune craze that's been sweeping seemingly all genres of music these days (thank T-Pain for that). Clearly Paul is a fan of backwards masking; it sounds like he's singing backwards ala the end of Wrecking Ball.

hee hee - thanks! I actually found it surprisingly quickly. I searched YouTube for Buddhist chant, and one of the first vids to pop up was this same monk in another video. The vocal timbre and melodic line were very similar to the sample in "H", so I went searching for more vids featuring this monk, and voila! I like his backup crew. The guy on the right is totally into it - chanting along - and the guy on the left looks like he's falling asleep.

haha There is always someone stating that his lyrics relate to heroin. (Remember all the skepticism regarding "Evil". Drugs drugs drugs... or not.)

Anyway, the song felt out of place to me. Maybe even lazy, perhaps. I like it, but.... hmph. Yes, "Lighthouse." haha

(This made zero sense, really.)

i'm not a fan of H. but then i'm not a fan of what (or whom) i think H stands for... and i think paul likes david lynch too much and it's influencing his musical sensibilities. then, i haven't slept for 36 hours, so who knows if this is my actual opinion...

I loved this track, but it's one of the tracks which are just totally way better live. Yes, better. Didn't think it could, but yes.
