That wouldn't surprise me at all.

Really? You'd think he'd want people to recognize him as an already established musician. Eh, if somebody could take a trip into Carlos's head and report back to us, that would be great.

^nobody recognizing *carlos*??
*carlos* not wanting to be recognized??
whaaaaa?

Yeah, just before OLTA he changed his look so he wouldn't be recognized in public. He said that in an interview during the Australian tour if my memory serves me correctly! He was sick of all the Inter-fans recognizing him around NY which explains the drastic appearance change between Antics and OLTA.

Just the kind of insight we were looking for. Thanks Luca :D

I think he wants to be seen as a musician in his own right, and not just as a member of Interpol. But using an older Interpol image might actually accomplish the opposite--I think it's more the iconically Interpol Carlos look than you get in more recent photos of him.

I guess it does seem unlikely to us Interpol fans, but I'm sure there are plenty of people who have no idea who he is.

Yeah, I know, I was just taking a piss. B)
But seriously, I kinda think it's amusing the way he obviously alternates between this all-human-loathing misanthropy and bouts of actively seeking adulation. or recognition, awe, whichever. (holster, anyone?) Even if he acts all "what, you mean *this* holster? is it somehow unusual? but it's just something I threw on this morning..." it's quite clear the man loves to make a statement.
Jump to a few months later and it's *drama voice* "why oh why must all eyes be on me? I shall change my attire and forever be unknown! gaius, fetch me a cardigan"

Well, people change. Don't know where he is in regard to this now, but he certainly gave the impression on the OLTA tour that he wasn't after all the attention anymore. Is he still totally dramatic? Might be.

But after cardigan came Cruella... come on, it's funny. It's all part of what makes us love his complex self.

I bet the reason for picking this photo is not as big as the discussion on here makes it.

Probably not, though I'm sure he didn't just grab whatever picture he had lying around. God knows he had plenty to choose from!

Oh come on, it is just what I thought about it. I know everybody is bored on here. ;)

Yes I thought of Carlos being like that too. But from my own work experience I know that people sometimes say they just want a website but they don't want to have much to do with the work process itself and let other people do that stuff.

True, but I wonder if he'd be more involved since this is his personal website. Just speculation.
