Sorry for misunderstanding and thanks for concern! ^_^
Oh sorry....I didnt know about your summertime internship. well better like this though ;). I'm sure you'll have other occasions to see Shearwater. They are really amazing live, even better than on the records

The bar's website and their website had two different dates.
I still get a little itchy inside when I think of it.
I actually missed their show a few weeks ago at some shitty club downtown. Found out about it the day of the show but didn't have the money or willing participants to go. Apparently they put on a good show. I've always wanted to hear the "shwee shwee" story from Jamie Stewart firsthand. Next time!
And speaking of (good?) shows, I will be missing Wolf Parade tomorrow. Last week I would have been bummed out but now I am remembering they mostly are damn boring. I'd skip work and go if they could only play their EPs and do that for and hour and a half.

In all honesty, I bought their last LP when it was released...and still haven't listened to it.
Some people at work kind of ruined them for me.

-'70s David Bowie, i.e. Ziggy Stardust, The Thin White Duke, Diamond Dogs, and other pinups he created. Sure, he is still alive, but Mike Ronson is dead, so seriously, what's the point. In his defense, I liked some of the Heathen material
-The Velvet Underground
-Pink Floyd, specifically the beginning with Syd Barrett
-The Modern Lovers. Yes, I love Jonathan Richman and his touring companion, Tommy Larkins, and I don't want that side of him to go away, but I would have loved to experience when he was lonely and discovering The Velvet Underground and a proto-punk. Once he got a girlfriend and happy, that music died. Just read There's Something About Jonathan.
-Joy Division
-Comsat Angels
-The Screamers
-The Smiths
-The Afghan Whigs
-The Pop Group. (Who by the way have reunited and I hope come to America--Heck, just NY would be ok.)
-Talking Heads
-The Police (Yes, I know they toured recently. So what: It's my list.)
-Nirvana (Technically, I could have seen them, but I wasn't as cool as a lot of you young kids seeing shows straight out of the womb.)
-The Smashing Pumpkins (in the '90s)
-Husker Du
-The Wicked Farleys
-The Minutemen (At least we still have Mike Watt & The Missingmen)
-The Replacements
-Desaparecidos (I discovered them only after they broke up, so I feel they fall in this category)
-Jeff Buckley
-Arab Strap
-Talk Talk
-The Chameleons (Yes, I know you've seen them, Shred, and most every other band on this list.)
-The Beta Band
-Fugazi (I wish they would play NY and charge more money a ticket. They need to consider inflation and $5 is ridiculous.)
-Galaxie 500
-Slowdive
...and probably most every other cliche Interpol fans have already said in this thread.
Those bands I don't regret so much, because I was born in '79, so a lot of that I couldn't have seen due to age or location. There are a lot of bands in there that I could have seen, I just wasn't into them until after they were history. I don't beat myself up for my ignorance.
Here is a list of bands I kick myself because I was into them while they were making music, just didn't get to make any of their shows. Or are still together and have bought tickets to, but ate them for whatever reason:
-Grandaddy
-The White Stripes
-Ikara Colt
-Tugboat Annie
-The Interstellars
-Tears For Fears (They played the Beacon Theatre (I think?) around the time Everybody Loves A Happy Ending came out.)
-The Veils (Though I like the newer material 2nd album on and have seen them live, I would have loved to see the band as they were on the first album.)
-Shellac (I ate my ticket back in September '06. Yes, I remember...)
-Mew (Should have seen them on their last tour a couple of years ago for the new album)
-Swirlies (They played their first show in many years at Mercury Lounge around February '09. I'm most mad about this one and I hope they play again so I can rectify my dumbassness.)
-Devothcka (They play all the time and I'll probably see them in a couple of months at Highline so long as they don't break up.)
-Wolfsheim (I ate a ticket to their Webster Hall show when they were touring for Casting Shadows. I'm a dummy.)
Also, bands who I have seen now and are into, but would have loved to seen them younger, i.e. The Cure, Depeche Mode, Gang Of Four, Wire, Suicide, etc, whom I've seen, just older. Take a look at my Last.fm to get a sense of what I am talking about.
I will prevent LCD Soundsystem from entering this list. Oh yes, I will.
ALso, would Whitey please do a NY show or what!

I know. I'm going to both NY shows for sure. Also, I have seen them live, just would have liked to see them back in the late 70s during the first 3, you know? I am loving Red Barked Tree: You? "Bad Worn Thing" is one of my new alltime favorite Wire songs.

I was supposed to go see The White Stripes in the summer of '04/'03 (I think?) with Tess. I bought tickets to Howard Jones and she got The White Stripes tickets. Problem was, Jack White hurt his hand or something. I believe it was because of The Von Bondies incident. I don't remember. The show was supposed to be in the summer in Central Park. It was postponed to October, but her tickets didn't transfer over, so no show. I might be wrong on dates, but it doesn't change the fact I missed them. Oh well...

Absolutely, Yes !
Hopefully you managed to get the freebie 'Strays' too.
Their live set is very RBT - you'll surely enjoy.
The title track, although mellow-ish on the LP is a beast, live. A Flat Tent is my current pash, but all is good on there.
When I saw them last week, Graham Lewis, in that wonderfully laconic slur of his said "We are being accused of copying ourselves" before launchng into 'Clay'. I'm sure you'll get that self-effacing humour.

Ha. that's pretty funny..
I didn't get much into White Stripes while they were huge.. someone from this board shared with me (years ago) that Jack White actually mentioned my dad's old band as an influence. If my dad were alive today he'd probably really appreciate them as he was all about stripped down as much as possible sound. I too regret not seeing them...
I've got on my que for netflix "It Might Get Loud" which is some sort of rockumentary covering three decades of important guitarists - Jimmy Page, The Edge, And Jack White.

Cool. Mod1 will really appreciate this. He actually read to me several chapters from whatever book it was he got with some sort of special RBT preorder. It's pretty fascinating.

I never came that close, but yeah the White Stripes for me is one of those bands I hated I missed. (I'm not going to see the Raconteurs or Death Weather because they suck.) The hurt hand and the Von Bondies incident were two separate events. He got into a "car accident" and hurt this "pinky finger" I do believe.
