This is my response In light of all the complaints recently on how things are run here.
If you had any doubts, this hopefully clarifies any misconceptions. Here is something Mod1 once showed me on another forum. It is the blueprint on how i moderate.
I feel that the other moderators follow a similar guideline.

Quote

First off, being a group of intelligent people with a common interest, everyone is expected to respect the other members and their opinions/thoughts. Discussion and debate is expected and encouraged, but arguments that turn into insult wars just aren't cool. If you've got a personal issue with someone else, persue it through a more private means of communication.

Have patience and an open mind. The world is a great big place, and not all people will be like you. You might want to keep in mind that such things as sarcasm are often lost over the internet.

As far as profanity is concerned, feel free to express yourself with any mode of language you feel necessary. Keep in mind though, that a whole post of swearing may make you look like a 5 year old who just learned some new words. There are often other equally effective ways to make your point. Common Sense....

When posting, please try to keep things in their proper place.

Try not to start duplicate threads. If there are more than one thread pertaining to the same topic, one will most likely be deleted or closed. If you're asking a question, try scaning through the first few pages- there is a good chance that someone else has already asked it or even answered it.

When replying to someone else, take the time to understand what it is your replying to. All too often people skip over whole paragraphs and responses, or completely miss the point.

Do not be a Troll!

Trolls are people who post or reply to threads for the sheer point of being annoying or causing a disruption.

Do not be a sockpuppet or sock?

Socks are alias's, or in other words, a username someone posts under other than their normal posting name. However, simply switching names is not considered a "sock", but, switching back and forth....IS.

And finally, above all else, keep the vibe around here on the positive side. Make your best attempt to respect the people around you, and keep the p-vibes flowin.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for visiting!

Good points there.

But..
If having more than one user-name is allowed (without making problems as you say) then why did my other accounts got deleted even without posting anything yet! Not by you of course.

It's not that important, by why mods' claiming and acting ain't the same? (not you again.)

I think you misread that. You can only have one user name. It's saying you can change your name, but not have more than one account/name.

And mods don't delete accounts, only admin's can do that.

Nice sig.

This is kinda wordy for a mission statement. You should probably think about de-lengthening, and jazzing it up a smidge...

Hm... OK, witty Mr. The LOST, I see an opportunity for sloganage here. Tercat: The best part of waking up? Well, maybe not.

All kidding aside, I think the principles we try to maintain as mods are pretty much common sense. This is a big board, and it's not here for one or two members. As such, there will be lots of different ideas and opinions expressed--that's a part of what keeps it interesting. But we don't intend to let the place descend into chaos. I think my catch phrase around here lately has been "play nice." Think before you post, and don't be a jackass.

Right. An admin deleted my other accounts. Just because the IP address were the same.
And I don't think I misunderstood anything. cause in here It's mentioned that:

"Q: Can I post under different usernames and pretend to be someone else?
A: Uh…Guess."

Also I know some people having numerous accounts (ok not pretending to be someone else). I dunno.

Thanks very much by the way. :)

Yeah ^
the Q&A for that particular one was total sarcasm. Like: Take a wild guess ... NO. ;)

And there are many people that do in fact have several accounts of that i am sure. As soon as we figure out which ones do, we delete them. But yeah, it's kinda discouraged here as well as most boards. Doesn't mean lots of members don't try to get away with it.

I've personally never understood why anyone would care to post under different accounts. They must be pretty bored.

I think the common interest people use to have on the imb was Interpol. that doesn't even apply anymore

Sometimes I feel too lazy to go through comments that take half a page. So I am guilty on that particular point.

I like to make fun of some fans on the Interpol section of the forum ( i don't do it often though). Does it make me a troll?

I did that 2 years ago and one time only (to amuse some people in the chat room). I tell you, that was a lot of fun to play the most obnoxious fan for a day, somehow it awaken the sleepy board (not that I am recommending it!!!).

Aww... I think the focus is starting to shift back a little.

It's true. I know half the time I don't realize when people are joking until I've already responded as though they were serious.

I don't think so. I've never seen you post anything downright mean. I guess I just get your humor. You contribute to the board more than you tease, so it's not like you're just here to be a pain (or if you are, it ain't workin', honey).

True though, it is starting to shift back, and it's going to be interesting to see people's reaction to the new album.

Eheh, you're such a nice person. But really, the only pain that is hard to cross, at list as far as I am concerned, is the language barrier. Some people on this forum have the tendancy to forget that we are not all English native or English major. I wish there was something on the guidelines about respecting people's effort to communicate in a language that is not theirs.

edit: but then again, I might be the only one that feels that way

3D, thanks for bringing this to our attention. It's totally unacceptable for members to criticize or intimidate other members simply because those members are not native speakers of English. I think this goes without saying, but some people don't grasp the obvious. So, we've added the following to the board guidelines:

- Show respect for all members, including those for whom English may not be a native language. Though we cannot accommodate posts in other languages, non-native speakers are completely welcome and encouraged to participate. Respect their efforts (if you've ever been in their shoes, you know how challenging it can be to communicate in a second language). Intimidation and snobbery will not be tolerated.
