Ten bucks says Koln are going to do really badly this season. : P

More importantly though, Munich lost to Hamburg.
Ahahaha. Ahaha. Hahaha. (I could do that all day.)

Still, there's only point point difference between the top three teams. It could go either way, but it's going to be up rather than down.

Next Thursday's match should be a doddle though.

Well, tonight was convincing...

.....

.........

Still, Ruud's on 35 goals in 39 Champions League games, which isn't too bad. Especially considering that Paul Scholes seems determined on doing such a good impression of Phil Neville that it seems Neville never left the club in the summer.

Damnit, I heard the scoreline, and really wanted to see at least some highlights.

Bloody Rupert Murdoch.

Liverpool 0 - Chelsea 0

Not a bad game, though I have only a few positive things to say about it. The tempo was lightning quick, the passing was errant, and the tackles were hard. I can't remember a Champions League match in which the quality in the final third was so poor, but I blame that on the lack of service from the expected giants like Gerrard, Lampard, Alonso etc.

We all know that Drogba has the touch of a rhino, and Crouch is only really good at one thing, so for both teams the responsibility really falls on the midfielders for goals. Credit to Liverpool on set pieces, I haven't seen a team trouble Chelsea that much in the air for some time. Pongolle also looked good for the five seconds that he was on the pitch. But, I just don't get how Liverpool fans could sing 'Boring Chelsea' when they had just as few shots on target as we did (2), and they were clipping us all night with petty fouls to stop progress. Whatever. I'd also like to note that the team that gets second in the group will most likely play Inter in the next round while the winners will play any one of the mighty Porto, Rangers, or Bratislava. Andy Grey is wrong in saying that the tie at Stamford Bridge will most likely be a formality. No one wants to do what Utd did last year and walk into a tie against a top side just because they think they're safe. Winning the group is just as important as qualifying for the next stage if you want to go deep in the competition.

Anderlecht 0 - Real Betis 1

meh, Betis deserved to win. it looks like Anderlecht will have another zero-points-campaign, although they didn't play bad.

Man, Liverpool fans have no right calling anyone boring. Imo, they've been the most consistently boring 'big' team in Europe for a few seasons now, with their only saving grace being the amount of exciting, one off, 'blue chip' matches they've played, e.g, CL Final, UEFA Final, etc.

Inter Milan 1 Rangers 0

Inter were never really troubled by the Gers and thankfully kept their big guns on the bench i.e. Adriano et al. They were worthy of their win. The Gers had one decent chance but it fell to Peter Swollenglands who as usual ballsed it up. Inter are a decent team but definitely not CL winning material (and neither are we) but seen as Arsemedia Bratislave won in Porto the Gers still have a chance of going through. What amazed me was that 200 Rangers fans travelled to Milan and sang songs for 90 minutes outside in the concourse! Incredible! This game was played behind closed doors and we still had fans travelling over to support the team. There are few teams on this planet who have such a fanatical and loyal following as Rangers. We Are The People.

HSV had to much luck this week. But van der Vaart shot some great goals in his first HSV season.

Being a Hearts fan [who finished 5th in the SPL last season and thus didn't qualify for Europe] I don't have much to contribute to this thread.

You would think that watching our city rivals get humped would make me happy, but I actually want to see Scottish teams do well in Europe. What does make me happy is that Hearts are currently FIVE points clear at the top of the league. This never happens. :D

Back to your Champions League/UEFA Cup discussions... :(

Being a Hib, it happens.

I really can't contribute much either, living in the States.

But my grandfather spent a bit of his life in Scotland and he loves Hibernian. It rubbed off.
