Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx part of me was in hysterics with laughter at his amd Tommy Lee's antics while on the road but other half of me was trying very hard not to cry at his own plight over his addiction until he would add something completely anecdotal and I wanted to throgh the book at the nearest wall

Ha. I wouldn't think anyone here would be interested in this, but I admit being slightly intrigued.. I mean, didn't everyone go through a Motley Crue phase? ;)

I am reading Man and Superman by Bernard Shaw...

Stella if you get the chance pick it up he is very graffic about his addiction in it but some of the things that he and Tommy Lee get up too had me crying with laughter

I have a vintage Motley t-shirt that is one of my prized items of clothing

LOL, I'm a grown woman and I still feel nervous when I go to my book club, like I'm going to be graded or something.

I finished My Year of Meat a few weeks ago. It wasn't the best thing or anything, but for some reason I haven't been able to eat meat since finishing it. Which is weird because after reading Fast Food Nation or watching Food Inc which I think did a better job talking about the reality/horrors of the meat industry I did not have this type of reactionhttp://www.interpolnyc.com/forum//public/style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif ... I think I might be a vegatarian?

Finishing up Mockingjay. What a whirl wind this series is! Then Winter's Tale by Mark Halperin.

As long as you keep sharing the good veg recipes, whatever your food choices end up as is okay with me.

I have read shockingly little this year, especially compared with last year. I just started The Saga of Gösta Berling. I'm a big Garbo fan, so I admit that is a part of what drew me to the book (one of her early successes was a film version of the novel). So far I'm genuinely enjoying it.

It was pretty epic. An inspiring story, to me anyways.

Just started Fahrenheit 451- so far so awesome

^ I definitely liked the first the best, but the whole series was a blast to read. YA fiction can be such great, escapist reading. http://www.interpolnyc.com/forum//public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

Before I start Winter's Tale, I'm gonna sneak in I Know I Am, But What Are You? by Samantha Bee (funny lady from the Daily Show).

I just finished White Teeth by Zadie Smith, and absolutely loved it. I read On Beauty first, and just fell in love with her. Such great writing...her characters are wonderful. It's hard to believe that she can write from so many different perspectives and make each character seem so real. She's funny as hell too.

Want to read those too some day...

I'm planning to read these books in the future weeks/months:

Bono 50: autobiograpy
Neil Young: Shakey (autobiography)
Haruki Murakami: Norwegian Wood

(and I hope to get my hands on Jonathan Franzen's book 'Freedom' but that book is so popular it's never available in the library, I have reserved it, think I'll have it within 2 months)

I ended up buying a copy as I was 68 out of 88 folks who reserved a copy at the library. http://www.interpolnyc.com/forum//public/style_emoticons/default/happy.gif

I still feel ambivalent about Freedom. Jonathan Franzen is a great writer, there are passages in it that are so simple and beautiful. And the way he writes dialouge- wowza! He just seemed to have so much disdain for the characters that I had a hard time connecting to any of them.

Just be happy I can't remember the other books as easily as the first, although I do totally know the end haha ;P

Can't wait for the movies/ series to be cast already. I intend on much grumbling.

My friend recommended Nikky`s book too.

I`m currently reading Kitchen Confidential from Anthony Bourdain. Love that mother fucker. Irreverant, vegetarian hating, heroin junkie man of the world. ^_^

Just read through The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star, a book by Nikki Sixx. I could live without the preachy god crap from the girl he used to free base with. I love reading about train wrecks and addictions. I have Robert Mapplethorpe's biography on the way. Looking forward to reading that too.

Just finished "Your screenplay sucks!" by William M. Akers. It is some kind of checklist for how to write a good screenplay. I don't want to write one, but there is pretty good tips just for better writting. And he talks about good movies' scenes I don't even know!

I've read the Mötley Crüe's biography. They're even worst than I thought they would be! Is it the same for that book?

Not read the Motley Crue bio, but have read the Heroin Diaries and he is brutally honest about his addiction, but his escapades with Tommy Lee make for a hilarious read

As Lola mentions, it's not so much about Motley Crue but his diary entries in the worst year of his addiction. And yes, his perspective on how women are fuck bags sorta confirms their misogynistic persona.
